The One Minute Mother
Posted by: | CommentsI am going through a period of intense soul searching- about many different areas of my life. One of the areas is me as a mother. For the past couple of weeks I have been introspecting, looking inside, looking at myself as a mother. Seeing how effective I am being as a mother. And as it usually happens, I find myself wanting. I find that I am too critical, not too demonstrative and on and on the list goes.
Today, I was spring cleaning my home and as I was cleaning the book shelf a book jumped out. And it is called , “The One Minute Mother”, by Spencer Johnson, the author of bestsellers “Who Moved My Cheese” and “The Present”.
This is a really small book that I picked up in a second hand book shop a few years back. Strangely I had never read this book before. But when it fell into my hand today, I looked at it as providence. Once I started I couldn’t seem to put it down.
In this book, he shares three simple and easy – to – understand techniques to address the fundamental question of how to be a more effective mother.
Beginning where most mothers are and taking them to where they want to be, this book shows how to reach your own potential while helping your own children reach theirs, how to develop their self – esteem and sense of responsibility, and how to communicate effectively and enjoy one another more as a family.
In future blog posts, I will be sharing the three secrets. I salute all the mothers, its a big job that we are doing.
Gurudjieff Sacred Dances
Posted by: | CommentsThis weekend I attended an absolutely amazing seminar. We were truly blessed to have in our midst Amiyo and Chetan from France who are Facilitators of Gurudjieff Dances.
For me meditation has always meant sitting down with my eyes closed and being in silence, stilling the mind. So this was a remarkable experience to actually have my eyes open and actually move my body around to achieve this meditative stillness.
As I look back I realise that I have been doing that already when I teach Yoga. I have people observe me demonstrate the pose, and then close their eyes and put their attention within their body, observing the sensations in their body and their breath as they remain in the pose.
It was interesting to note the same philosophy in practise during the workshop. The only difference was to be aware of different body parts and the breath as we were practising the different dances.
At the end of 2 days I was absolutely exhausted physically but my mind was more tranquil than ever before. I have been contemplating the two days and integrating all that I have learnt. My heart yearns to be a part of a longer workshop.
The two videos above are just 2 of the dances that we practised over the weekend. Watch the videos, and watch yourself. Just watching them can put you in such a deep meditative trance. And then imagine what practising these can do for you.
I would love to hear your comments.
Sound Healing Meditation- Tom Kenyon
Posted by: | CommentsThis week in my Wednesday morning group we are doing a Sound Healing Meditation from Tom Kenyon.
We will be doing the Meditation of Archangel Raphael.
Check out this beautiful video above. Set aside about 10 min, sit in front of your computer with the speakers turned up, play the video and close your eyes. This is a beautiful sound meditation.
Tell me what you think of it and do share your experiences by commenting below. I have it on as I am typing this blog post and I am feeling the most profound peace and love in my heart. I hope you experience the same.
EFT- Pain Relief
Posted by: | CommentsI just uploaded a video on You Tube on using EFT for Pain Relief. I must say that I felt really self conscious while doing this video. Its something about feeling really exposed. But one thing which I am learning as I work on my own growth is that I am not going to allow my fears to play small anymore. So I feel the FEAR and do it anyway
Try this simple tapping technique and do tell me how it helps you. I love to hear from you. Also tell me if you want to learn something, anything.
I actually uploaded this video a couple of days back, but got the courage to put it here only today. And when I opened my twitter account I was pleased to see this testimonial there.
